We live in an era where huge data centers can view and save all of our private messages. BitMessage was created to fight back against this.
BitMessage is a P2P communication system that is used to send coded messages to other people in a decentralized way, using basic coding to keep both the sender and receiver of messages anonymous.
The purpose of the program is to hide the identities of both the sender and receiver from spies that engage in privacy invasion such as warrantless wiretaps. The program uses such strong authentication that the sender of a message cannot be falsified.
Upon opening BitMessage, the client connects to the web and begins to download a list of known nodes, receiving messages from different senders.
